Hey guys,
First off, I would like to congratulate everyone that competed at Nationals this year! You guys killed it!
Now that we’re finished with Nationals, it means now that the end of the semester is less than a month away. That means a lot of things, including electing a new officer team for next year. With that being said, here’s some information about the process of our upcoming election.
General:
First, elections will be held on Thursday, April 20th at 8:30 PM at Virginia Techniques. An online option will also be available. Anyone who has paid dues for the semester or year is expected to attend and all candidates are required to attend (unless there is an extenuating circumstance - please reach out to me). Everyone else is also highly encouraged to come out. Making your voice heard during officer elections is one of the ways that you can have a direct impact on the future of the club, so don’t miss out!
Process:
Here’s an explanation of how the officer elections will work. We will vote for one officer position at a time. First, all candidates running for a specific position will leave the room. Next, each candidate will come in one at a time and say a quick pitch/speech about who they are and why they would be a great choice for the position that they are running for (even if there is only ONE candidate). They will then return back to room, allowing for the next candidate to come out. Once a candidate has finished speaking, there will be an opportunity for all members of the club to ask questions. After this has finished for each candidate, all candidates will wait outside the room. During this time, everyone will have a brief open discussion about all the candidates, anonymously cast their votes, the candidates will come back, and the winner will be announced. We will run through this process for every position.
Sign-Up:
If you would like to be a candidate for one (or more!) of the positions, please fill out the following Google Form. Remember to prepare a quick pitch/short speech for each position!
