Good morning,
Please consider joining us for the first webinar of the 2026 Eastern Enology and Viticulture Forum Webinar Series! The first viticulture webinar in the series will be held on
Tuesday, Jan 13, 2026, from 12:00pm-1:30 ET.
This kick-off webinar, Spotted Lanternfly: Research Updates and Panel Discussion, will feature short updates from a diverse group of researchers working on SLF, followed by a moderated Q&A panel discussion. Registration is required, and questions can
be submitted ahead of time during registration. All registrants will receive a link to the recorded webinar within ten business days after the live event that will remain accessible for six months from the event date.
About the webinar:
The spotted lanternfly (SLF), an invasive sap-feeding pest, continues to pose significant challenges for vineyards as it spreads into new grape-growing regions. Join researchers and extension professionals as they share the latest findings on SLF management,
including its impacts on grapevine biology, wine composition, and potential complications with harvest mechanization. Presenters will also explore consumer and stakeholder perceptions of SLF and current control strategies. The session concludes with a moderated
Q&A, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with panelists and get practical, research-informed answers to their SLF questions.
The Eastern Viticulture and Enology Forum (EVEF) Webinar Series is a collaborative initiative of the Penn State Extension Grape and Wine Team and partnering viticulture and enology extension programs from U.S. land-grant institutions (including Virginia Tech!).
Please let me know if you have any questions, and we hope to see you there!
All the best,
Drew
