Vineyards in the southern part of the state are gearing up for bloom. Here are some quick reminders about why bloom is an important phenological stage for vineyard managers:

· Flowing is clearly important for the crop level in our vineyards.
· Bloom is a good time to assess vineyards:
· It’s a good time to collect plant tissue samples to assess the vines nutritional status
· Bloom is a good time to assess canopy management passes thus far
· The timing of bloom tells us about how the season is progressing
We will review these points and more at the online vineyard meeting this Thursday at 1pm.
