Reminder: Please pay attention to the dates under Important Dates!
The 100th Annual Cumberland-Shenandoah Fruit Workers Conference (CSFWC) will be held Thursday and Friday, December 5 and 6, 2024 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 65 Priority Drive, Martinsburg, WV, 25401. Note the new location for our gala 100th Anniversary Conference!
The Conference website is NOW open: https://csfwc.grapepathology.org/meeting-registration to register for the meeting, reserve hotel rooms, submit presentation requests and provide donations.
***Important dates***
-Registration:
November 6, 2024 is the deadline for discounted registration ($100 per person). After that, the online registration fee will increase to $150.
November 13, 2024 is the deadline for online registrations. For logistic reasons, no online registration will be allowed after this date.
November 14, 2024 is the close of the motel room block unless all rooms are sold out prior to that date.
However, onsite registrations can be arranged, and the fee will be $200, payable by cash, check, or PayPal. No credit cards can be accepted by CSFWC staff onsite.
- Submission of presentation request:
November 8 is the deadline for submission of presentation requests. Presentation time will be allocated on a first come first served basis. please plan for a 12-minute presentation and allow for an additional 3 minutes for audience questions.
***General agenda***
Thursday (December 5, 2024) morning’s general session will begin with the traditional Call of the States. One or two representatives from each state should be prepared to present a summary of their state’s fruit season. Please limit your remarks to a total of 5 minutes per state. We’ll also have a Call of the Industry. Industry representatives who wish to update attendees on new products, registration or label changes, etc., please contact me in advance @ steveb...@outlook.com for industry presentation slots.
The Thursday morning Plenary Session will feature a panel discussion focused on industry change(s) over the 100 years of the CSFWC and where it is likely going. Our panel is finalized. Title:”Perspectives on the Past and Future of the Fruit Industry”. Our panelists are: Tracy Leskey, Director, Appalachian Fruit Research Station, USDA, Dean Polk (ret.) Rutgers Extension, and, Dave Rosenberger, Professor Emeritus, Cornell University. Following the Plenary session presentations, we will have an audience Q & A.
In the afternoon, after lunch (provided), we will have the student presentations (student competition details to follow in a separate email) consecutively, so that all may attend. At the conclusion of our Thursday session, you are invited to attend the always popular mixer with free drinks and food. On Friday (December 6, 2024) we will begin with concurrent research & extension presentation sessions covering topics in horticulture, entomology, and plant pathology.
Hotel Information: Reservations may be made for arrivals as early as Wednesday, December 4 and departures as late as Saturday, December 7, 2024.
The Room Block will remain open until it is sold out or until it closes on November 14, 2024, whichever occurs first.
