We are thrilled to offer you a chance to attend an inspiring lecture by the acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates at the Moss Fine Arts Center on the evening of Friday, November 1st. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from a leading public intellectual exploring race, culture, and identity in the U.S. today.
This conversation aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for international students to explore, learn, and share perspectives on a topic that plays a significant role in American society.
We understand that discussions around race can be complex.
That's why we’re creating a small discussion group environment where you can engage without any prior knowledge or experience, ask questions, and gain deeper insights into the dynamics and history surrounding race, culture, and politics.
Even if you’re not selected for a free ticket, $10 student tickets are still available as of this writing through the link to the Moss Fine Arts Center below.
How to Participate: Register for a chance to win a free ticket to this event! By registering, you commit to attending the lecture and joining a small discussion group (10 participants) afterward, facilitated by Rob Emmett and Danielle Davis of the Cranwell International Center.
This group conversation will be an open, welcoming space to reflect on the lecture, share your thoughts, and connect.
Event Details:
- Lecture Date: Friday, November 1st, Moss Fine Arts Center
- Lecture Time: 7:30 PM (approximately 90 minutes)
- Discussion Time: Following the lecture, until around 10:00 PM
- Discussion Location: Squires Student Center (across from the MFAC)
This opportunity is open to all current international students at Virginia Tech.
