Dear students,

We are happy to forward an invitation from a current VT graduate student to participate in a research study they are undertaken, a “Bilinguals’ Challenges Survey,” IRB #26-023:

As always, participation in research like this is 100% voluntary.

Hello!

As part of my dissertation, I am studying Virginia Tech's bilingual population and identifying potential areas of improvement for their experiences in an anglophone environment. Therefore, I have designed a survey that you can participate in if you meet the following criteria:

  1. College student (undergraduate or graduate student) at Virginia Tech
  2. Bilingual (speaks two or more languages, English being one of these)
  3. Possess a first language that is not English
  4. Have been in the US for at least one academic semester
  5. 18 years or older
  6. Capable of consenting on your own
  7. Preferably taken an English proficiency test (not required)

You can access the form through: https://forms.office.com/r/cN6niykues

Please note that once you complete and submit this survey, you are consenting to the summary of your data and possibly to excerpts of your experiences being shared. Your data will remain anonymous, and all findings will be shared without any personal identifier. For more information, see the Information Sheet attached in this email.

If you wish to be compensated for your time, at the end of the survey you will have the option to be redirected to a separate form to provide your email so you can receive a $5 Amazon e-gift card. The survey will be open until March 13th. Please feel free to reach out to me at kare...@vt.edu if you have any questions or concerns!

Best,
