Hi SA-LT,

I am reaching out to ask for your help in sharing an opportunity with students who may benefit from and contribute to something really meaningful.

Hokie Wellness is currently recruiting peer facilitators for The Connection Project (TCP), and we would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this opportunity with students across your departments, especially those who are strong communicators, interested in leadership, or passionate about building connection and belonging at Virginia Tech.

The application deadline has been extended to April 1.

TCP continues to be one of our most impactful, evidence-informed initiatives to address student loneliness and strengthen connection and belonging on our campus. Peer facilitators play a critical role in that work, both in supporting other students and in developing their own leadership and interpersonal skills.

What students gain from serving as a TCP facilitator:

  • Leadership and group facilitation experience
  • A strong sense of community and connection with fellow facilitators
  • Academic credit (HD 3964)
  • Opportunities to apply this experience toward field study requirements

Program structure:

  • Fall 2026 (Training Semester – HD 3964): Students participate in a TCP group, engage in didactic learning, and practice facilitation skills through role-play (T/Th 9:30–10:45 AM)
  • Spring 2027 (Facilitation Semester – HD 3964): Students co-facilitate TCP groups and participate in weekly supervision
  • Students can continue in the role for multiple semesters and deepen their skills over time

If it would be helpful, our team would be glad to visit a class, staff meeting, or student group to share more about TCP and the facilitator experience.

For more information:

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and for helping us expand opportunities for students to connect with each other.

Amy
