Exploring Our Mountain Home Hiking Series: Rice Fields
Cranwell is partnering with Venture Out to offer a free hiking series once a month! Take a break and get moving on the Rice Fields Trail as part of the Appalachian Trail for our September hike! We offer signups either the week before or the week of the trip through the CranwellConnect. Venture Out will then email you with scheduling and hiking details about the trip. You can only sign up for one hiking trip at a time.
Note: You must give Venture Out a 24-hour notice if you need to be back out of the trip. If you do not send prior notification about your absence, you will not be eligible to go on other hikes for the remainder of the semester.

Join Venture Out on Upcoming Excursions
Try Stand Up Paddleboarding!
Enjoy a peaceful day paddling around on a calm section of water. Staff will provide instruction on proper paddling technique. The trip is beginner friendly! This trip will involve balancing while standing on the water, swimming with a life jacket, and hanging out in the sun! Go Biking at New River Trail!
Come try biking on the New River Trail. The Venture Out staff is ready to teach you everything you need to know about riding. This trip will involve riding a bike for up to 30 minutes at a time over a gravel bike path. The path is level with some hills and great views of Claytor Lake. Bikes, transportation, and light snacks are provided. Just bring your Energy! The trip will meet at the Venture Out Center at 9:00 AM and return by 4:00 PM.

INTERFAITH DINNERS Eat free food, make new friends, and build religious tolerance on our campus all at the same time. All undergraduate and graduate students are invited to 4 dinners. You'll be assigned to a small group of students from different backgrounds, and you'll receive a discussion guide to help you connect quickly - no boring, surface-level icebreakers. Tuesdays, Sept. 16-Oct. 7, 6:30-7:30PM in Newman Library (Goodall Room, near the cafe). Sign up here ASAP.
MISSING CLASS FOR A RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY? If you ever need to miss class so that you observe a religious ritual, submit an Absence Verification Request online. A letter will be sent to each of your instructors from the Dean of Students Office encouraging them to accommodate your holiday. Please submit at least 2 weeks in advance if at all possible.
PRITCHARD PRAYER ROOM Students living anywhere on campus who need a space to pray can now use the prayer and meditation room in Pritchard Hall. A footwashing station is provided. Request Hokie Passport access by going to "Online Forms" in your Star Rez housing portal.
