The Blueridge cluster has served as the largest-scale HPC cluster at Virginia Tech since its release in 2013. The university is now moving forward with a new cluster purchase to replace Blueridge as it is being decommissioned.

August 1, 2019 – End of updates.
September 1 , 2019– No new allocations or renewals.
December 31, 2019 – End of compute. All jobs must end on/before this date.
January 2020 – Decommission /lustre storage
Spring 2020 – New (yet to be named) large scale compute cluster arrives

If you plan data in the /lustre filesystem on Blueridge which you need to preserve, you should make plans to move that data to another location. The following link has more detailed information about migrating data and workloads off of this cluster:

If you have a large amount of data (>1TB) or a specialized workload to consider, it may be helpful to consult with ARC staff to discuss options and best practices.
