Consignment at VCF West

I'm excited to go to VCF West next week. I haven't been to one before and I'm looking forward to it.  I decided to try out the consignment process to sell a few compact Macs and a TRS-80.

If anyone has done this before and has tips on the process, I'd love to here them. How is the pricing relative to what you'd normally see on ebay or other venues? Do potential buyers get to go hands-on with the items? All the stuff I'm bringing is working and if it doesn't sell, I want to be sure it's still working when I bring it home.

I know I sound like a bit of a nervous Nelly, but I want to do what I can to make it a positive experience.

Hey Joe!

I'm Dan, I occasionally volunteer for the convention and I've attended
for the last few years.

We're trying a new consignment system this year, check out the news

All items for sale are placed in a designated room and/or hallway space,
and people are generally allowed to poke, prod, pick up and look at
items.

During consignment setup, the convention usually asks for seller
contact details so potential buyers can contact with questions.
In the past I've seen sellers plug in computer to demo that they work,
but that's been rare.

Never seen any potential buyers power on or open systems, and I can't
say I've heard of anything getting broken.

I would look at pricing like this. eBay tends to be very high prices, which include shipping charges. I would recommend a lower than e-bay price. People save on shipping and get a bargain. You always have the option to lower the price and it will be automatically updated in the system. Just make sure the physical item has the new price reflected. Working machines tend to go for more money and are more desirable.
