Hey USFT,

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing winter break and that you're feeling rejuvenated, because we have a lot of work cut out for us this spring semester. Our Topple the TPP campaign just reached a critical moment: the Fast Track bill has been introduced. This means we only have a couple weeks to mobilize quickly and stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

If the Fast Track bill passes, that means the TPP and other harmful trade agreements can be signed by the White House before the public can see them, and then get rushed through Congress without amendment and thorough review. But if we defeat the Fast Track bill, corporations won't be able to ram bad trade deals through, and we can kill the Trans-Pacific Partnership!

We can win this. Last time Fast Track passed, it barely squeaked through with just a two vote majority.  We can get the votes we need and stop the TPP! But Wall Street and corporations like Walmart and Exxonn  are hard at work schmoozing on Capitol Hill. That means we have to mobilize quickly to let Congress know that the public won't stand by as they sign away our democracy. Let's get moving!

Here's what we have to do over the next few weeks:

1)   Email and call your House Representative.  The House is where we have the power to stop Fast Track, so keep energy focused there. Keep the calls going in everyday until it comes to vote. Then share this link on Facebook and Twitter: www.stopfasttrack.com

2) Send a similar urgent action alert to your campus listservs asking on everyone to call AND email their representatives in the House using the above links. You can also send them to the www.usft.org website for this information.

3)  House members will be on recess and in-district January 21 – 24. It is critical that you schedule an in-district meeting to urge your representative to vote NO on Fast Track. Find tips for organizing an in-district meeting here.

4) Organize rallies at your Representative’s district office, high visibility places, and TPP-supporting corporate stores. It will be critical to keep the opposition to Fast Track visible.

5) Plan something big for our International Day of Action on January 31st with our sisters and brothers across North America.

Let me know what you're planning and what support you need. Together, we will win.

In solidarity,
