Dear USFT students, alumni, and allies,

United Students for Fair Trade invites you to join our new Movement Connection Project!

USFT is in a period of transition as we orient ourselves within the fair trade movement and the wider movement for social justice. In order to be the most effective in our mission to empower students and youth to make change happen, we need to hear from you.

The purpose of this project is to spark communal conversation and reflection, to reconnect with the core values of fair trade, and to reconnect with the student/fair trade network. This will strengthen our movement as well as help us understand our United Students for Fair Trade’s role in the student movement for a more just economy. This project will wrap up spring semester and get us ready to move into summer and the 2014-2015 academic school year.

Will you join us? Read more here.

Here’s how it works:

1) Student groups, groups of friends, communities, join together in a communal space.
2) A person steps up to facilitate a conversation based on our guide of reflection questions. Participants join in the conversation and communally reflect on their position in the global economy and their work in the fair trade movement/social justice organizing
3) Another person takes notes on the ideas, themes, and struggles that are shared.
4) Share your communal reflections with the USFT steering committee so we can build our organization based on the passions and needs of our network. With permission, some of these stories will be shared online for others to read.
