We have a great line-up of speakers, including our keynote address by

Mr. Cy Smith, MA State GIO, Former URISA and NSGIC President

The U. S. National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) was conceived by the National

Academy of Sciences - Mapping Science Committee in a report in 1993, and authorized through Presidential Executive Order 12906 by President Clinton in that same year. Many people and organizations have been working to make the NSDI a reality ever since…but we are still a long way from completing the vision.

Cy will speak to the importance of the NSDI for the nation, including all organizations in the public and private sectors, as well as U.S. residents at large. He will also lay out a few of the key impediments to achieving the NSDI vision, one of which is the need to improve support for small and rural local governments in participating in the NSDI through the use of GIS and geospatial data to meet their missions.
