We encourage submissions to our AGU Annual Meeting Session T011: Oceanic Transform Faults: Surface Processes, Structure, Seismicity, Petrology and Long-Term Evolution (https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu26/prelim.cgi/Session/283501)

Oceanic transform faults (OTFs) and their associated fracture zones are among the most prominent tectonic structures in the oceans, with OTFs accounting for nearly 20% of the total length of global plate boundaries. Over recent decades, advances in marine geophysical observations, seismic imaging, geodynamic modeling, and laboratory experiments have significantly improved our understanding of the processes governing the dynamics, seismicity, structure, and evolution of both active and fossil transform systems. Yet key questions remain about the coupling between short- and long-term evolution, as well as the interactions between deep and surface processes such as hydrothermal circulation and magmatism. This session welcomes contributions based on observations, experiments, and numerical or theoretical modeling investigating oceanic transform faults and their associated fracture zones. We aim to foster interdisciplinary discussions across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales, promoting scientific exchanges that bridge geodynamics, tectonics, seismology, petrology, marine geophysics, and surface processes.

Invited speakers: Mark Behn (Boston College) and Cyril Journeau (UC Davis).
