I'm relatively new with ICU, but I've been asked by one of our potential
users (we haven't rolled it out yet) the following question:

Does ICU contain any definition of valid values for IBM's Encoding Scheme
Ids (Sides)?

I'm not familiar with Sides either.. can anybody shed some light on this
matter for me it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

IBM's CDRA (Character Data Representation Architecture) defines ESIDs, but
ICU does not use them or carry any data about them. ICU converters use
data structures that carry more information than ESIDs do for most
charsets.

I believe that the CDRA document itself may be online. If you need it, I
can look for it.

Let's see - I think this link is public:
http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/focref00/CCONTENTS

Related:
The conversion tables can be downloaded from the IBM DeveloperWorks site
(http://www6.software.ibm.com/devcon/devcon/docs/cdra0902.htm). The tables
are found in the Sample Code section of the catalog and further classified
under NLS.

There are updates to these documents available inside IBM. IBM customers
and partners should be able to ask their representative for more
information if necessary.

IBM conversion tables are also available in ICU format at
http://oss.software.ibm.com/icu/charset/

If you happen to have it handy that'd be great! The user in question
claimed they had looked for but didn't find anything about it... So any
help
here would be appreciated! :)
