Good afternoon,

We’re writing to clarify the web project timeline, audience focus, and more.

The launch of www.uncg.edu is expected in April 2022. As you know, content team training is beginning next week (Oct. 11). If you’re serving on a content team and have not signed up for one of the 10 sessions, please sign up. Vision Point and ITS continue to work on development of the many components to be used throughout the new UNCG web presence. Please be reminded we have an FAQ that provides clarity on the timing of college/school websites and more.

We want to provide some points of clarification:

  • Please continue to keep your current sites updated. This makes your site the best it can be for your current visitors and ensures that everything remains up-to-date and ready for migration later in 2022.

  • Earlier this academic year, the Web and Mobile Operating Committee established a moratorium on new websites outside of special circumstances. This hold on new development was intended to help effectively manage effort during the Next Generation Web Project. We want you to be successful and fulfill the needs of your audiences. If a new site is needed, please contact ITS for further consultation.

As you know, www.uncg.edu is moving toward a prospective student audience first. From current students, faculty, and staff, to alumni, community members, and more, uncg.edu serves many audiences. Collectively, we have committed to serving prospective students first - but not only.  This is especially applicable to your unit level sites. When your unit/college/school begins to work on your site, please know we support your need to balance the multiple audiences your site serves. From uncg.edu to individual unit sites, we seek to serve all our audiences that use the web.

If you have additional questions that have not been answered in the FAQ, please ask us. We’ll be happy to answer your questions - and create new FAQs, if needed.

Thank you for your time, energy, and talent that you're providing for the NGWP.

Sincerely,

The NGWP Project Team
