Hope everyone is well. We won't be having a Web Developer meeting this Friday. I imagine we'll need to regroup and update everyone soon so I do anticipate a March meeting.

In the meantime, there is important work that we can be doing on our sites:
  • Be sure to take advantage of the "Broken Link" checker plugin for your WordPress sites to ensure that you don't have old or out-of-date links on your site. Broken links impact your search engine ranking and your user experience.
  • Take a look at your font usage. We were recently reminded that you should be using Pluto Sans for your headlines (H1 and H2 tags) and it should always be in all UPPER CASE. There is guidance on how to utilize the fonts and when you can substitute Sofia Pro for a headline in the UC Brand Guide
  • A reminder that those people responsible for content in the University webpages are now looking at that content to look for redundant, out-of-date, or trivial content. This is in preparation for the Next Generation Web Project that is underway. I know that many of us working within the site have a good understanding of the content as well. You may need to assist the content person as this work progresses.
Finally, I wanted to remind everyone that if you have a need for a domain name you should put a request in via the 6TECH/Service Desk procedure via ITS. This is important to ensure that domains are renewed and maintained via ITS and aren't attached to individual email accounts that could be disabled if that person were to leave the university.

Reach out if you have questions or needs regarding your sites.
