Good Afternoon-
The last Climate Cafe of the season will be tomorrow:
11:00-12:30 AT THE BACK TABLE 816 S Elm St.
Aidan Loretz will be speaking about Fossil Fuel Resistance. Joel Landau will be leading us in a singalong and we invite you to stay for pizza. The Back Table has vegetarian and gluten free pizza but no vegan option but they do allow you to bring in your own food  ( just no drinks) -so if you're vegan we hope you can bring a sandwich and stay and eat with us after the Climate Cafe.

June 9  College Park Baptist : When AI comes to Town; The Impact of Data Centers on our Community Third Act Triad is partnering with Indivisible, the NAACP and many other local organizations for this event to bring Dr. Rania Masri of the NC Environmental Justice Network in person to Greensboro. You may remember her as the speaker for our Third Act NC Statewide meeting in April.  Child care will be provided. This will also be live streamed so if you register- you should receive the link for livestream.

TOMORROW JUNE 2 Greensboro City Council Meeting 5:30
Democracy United called together all of the organizations for the June 9 Data Center And AI presentation with Dr. Masri (see event above). Yesterday we received an email from Democracy United saying that "We have been asked to attend the Greensboro City Council this Tuesday, 6/2, at 5:30 PM to speak during the public comment section about our concerns for the proposed Dream Center Project which is a 115.000 sq. ft data center planned for 2901 East Gate City Blvd in Greensboro; we need to push the council for a moratorium." It appears that the Dream Center was passed by the City Council in 2022 but now there is a proposal to make it larger. You do not need to speak but we need people to show public support for a moratorium on Data Centers tomorrow at the City Council meeting. We need time to get more information and educate the community. The council will not be voting on this tomorrow but we want them to know the community is concerned and we want transparency on this process.
Here is the text of the email from Democracy United and more information about the Dream Center and Data Centers:

We will also be talking about Data Centers and the City Council meeting at the Climate Cafe tomorrow.

Hope to see you tomorrow!
