UNCG Sustainability Lecture & Dialogue Series
 
Sponsored by the UNCG Sustainability Council and the Office of Sustainability, the Sustainability Lecture and Dialogue Series features UNCG faculty and student researchers discussing their work. All events are free and will take place virtually via Zoom. More events will be announced later in October.
City of Streams: Exploring Greensboro's Urban Waterways
 
Dr. Sarah Praskievicz, Associate Professor, Geography, Environment & Sustainability, and Sustainability Faculty Fellow, studies the environmental aspects of river systems, including impacts of climate change on water resources. She and her students conduct field-based research to characterize the status of and threats to Greensboro’s urban streams and how the condition of those streams can be improved. This year their research will support stream enhancement projects at sections of the North Buffalo Creek at Revolution Mill and in the East Greensboro neighborhood of Cottage Grove.
 
The event will take place via Zoom.
Registration is required by 10 p.m., October 1.
Urban Building Energy Use: Challenges & Solututions
 
Dr. Wenliang "Will" Li, Assistant Professor, Geography, Environment and Sustainability, and UNCG Sustainability Faculty Fellow, will discuss his research on improving our understanding of both building energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions within the complex urban dynamic system, and exploring the impact of the natural environment and human activity on building energy use.

The event will take place via Zoom.
Registration is required by 10 p.m. on October 8.
UNCG From Space: Perspectives on Opportunity & Sustainability
 
The UNC Greensboro Department of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability welcomes Julian Keniry as a guest speaker in their annual Harriet Elliott Lecture Series. Julian Keniry, founder and lead organizer of Green Teach for Opportunity of the ESDI Group, will be sharing her expertise on campus sustainability as it relates to the challenges and opportunities we have here at UNCG. 
 
Registration is not required for this event.

The UNCG Green Fund Committee is pleased to invite proposals from UNCG students and employees for efforts that support sustainability initiatives at UNCG. Projects may be for campus infrastructure, sustainability education, research, or professional development that benefits students. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on October 1st.
