Please attend one of five sessions with the Guilford County Commissioners

Dear Friends of Sustainability and Clean Energy,

Guilford Clean Power Now has a request:

If you live in Guilford County, please attend one of the Livability Forums and Budget Town Halls being held by our County Commissioners this month. A chart with the dates and locations is below.

Why are we asking you to attend?

We need people at each of these forums who will speak up for sustainability and clean energy! Specifically, we need people to tell our commissioners that we want them to commit to transition their operations to 100% clean energy by 2050. For more than six months, our group has been asking them to pass resolution with this commitment, and we will hoping they will set this goal soon. Until they set a specific goal, we will not be able to determine how much progress they are making, so having a goal is essential.

The County is showing an interest in this topic. One of the sections of the County's Strategic Plan is called "Sustainable and Vibrant Communities." From the County's website:
"Guilford County promotes intentionally designed, vibrant, and thriving communities by advancing infrastructure to meet growth demands, engaging in planning and development practices that balance environmental, social and economic factors for all residents, and establishing high quality recreational and green space amenities."
