Mark your calendars! Please join the Rachel Carson Council on
April 23, 2026, for a FREE environmental justice boat tour on the Cape Fear River—and spots are already filling quickly!
Attendees will board the
Henrietta for a two-hour, on-the-water briefing about the wood pellet industry. Together with national policy experts, conservation scientists, and frontline community leaders, we’ll explore the environmental justice, ecological, and climate impacts
of the biomass operations that have taken root in our region.

As we cruise the Cape Fear, you’ll hear how companies like
Enviva and Drax are degrading forests, polluting nearby neighborhoods, and accelerating the climate crisis — all while witnessing the river and surrounding ecosystems these industries put at risk. Most importantly, you’ll leave with clear ways to take
action.
For the first time, we will offer a free follow-up UNCW Luncheon Workshop
from 1:30-3:30pm (SPOTS LIMITED; first-come first-served. You will be prompted to register as an “add-on” as you fill out the main Eventbrite form.)
The trip will depart at 11:00am sharp from 101 S Water Street, Wilmington, North Carolina and will return at 1:00pm.
Visit our website to explore RCC’s four in-depth
publications on
the wood pellet industry. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact

See you there,
