Hello Educator,

I’m Aidan Loretz, a Community Organizer with Haw River Assembly, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Haw River Watershed. You may know us from our Learning Celebration Program (35+ years strong!) or River Watch (active since 1990). Our work includes advocating for clean water, fighting back against threats to the river, such as fossil fuel projects, and empowering our community through education.

Now, we’re excited to offer your students the Climate Resiliency Curriculum — a chance to step into their power, right in their own watershed. I've provided details below and am attaching a flyer with additional pricing information.

🌎 How can we prepare for a future that truly equips young folks with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to face increasing climate threats?

The Haw River Assembly is excited to offer a hands-on training program designed to build climate resilience through education, collaboration, and action.

Program Overview

This two-to-three-day lesson plan supports students in:

  • Determining and clearly articulating their climate advocacy goals and concerns

  • Learning how to research climate change effectively and identify credible resources

  • Taking direct action by engaging with local systems of power to achieve actionable change

Through classroom sessions, students will learn how to use their individual and collective power to engage with a climate issue they are passionate about in their own communities.

🌿 Supporting NC Students & Teachers 🌿

Do you know a student in high school or college feeling overwhelmed or powerless in the face of the climate crisis? Are you a teacher/professor with students curious about how to make an effective change in our community?

Our flexible program is designed to support your specific teaching goals while empowering your students. Research and education must be paired with action and advocacy. By the end of our Climate Resiliency Curriculum, students will be prepared to engage directly in their community on a local issue.

Ready to bring this program to your classroom?

Just reply to this email for more information to get started.

We’d love to partner with you to inspire the next generation of river stewards!

Take care of yourselves and each other,
~ Aidan Loretz (she/her, they/them)
