PowerPoint is losing power for the students

During my first lecture of the semester in honors statistics, I showed a PowerPoint presentation.  However, my intention was to proceed through the rest of the course working through problems "live" by writing on my tablet computer with the display projected on the screen.  So the last slide of my PowerPoint presentation said, "This is the last PowerPoint slide I will show during lecture."  And the students applauded.  It seems that some students are growing weary of PowerPoint.
