I received couple reimbursement from a fellow for travel expense to attend interviews for the internal medicine residency program at several hospital in the nation. Does the interview expense allowable on F30 training grant? I double checked the NIH F30 grant policy statement, it states that "payment of travel to scientific meeting is appropriate when it is necessary for the individual's training and when the costs are incurred within the period of grant-supported training". Should the interview be consider as necessary for the individual;'s training?

Job interviews are not usually considered scientific meetings, so typically we would not reimburse for those unless it's an extremely special circumstance.
