Has anyone successfully cost shared anything but salary/fringe? A PI I'm working on a proposal is suggesting trying to cost share services available to UMN researchers. In order to be able to cost share those services I assume that there would have to be an actual fee for use those services, which would then be covered by the department?

If the services are not being charged through an ISO, then the related expenses are most likely already being included in the F&A rate so offering them as cost share would not be allowable If being provided by a University entity, then the services would need to be something for which a fee is being incurred and the expense charged to a non-sponsored cost share account string.

Can you cost share a consultant's time if they have agreed to waive their consultant fee? How would you capture that to be able to report to the sponsor that you are meeting cost share requirements?
