Title: Some experimental, empirical, and modelling results for the bursty deformation of solids
Abstract: We describe some recent experimental and empirical studies on the bursty strain behavior in the mechanics of solids, especially crystalline materials. This includes their (ir)reversible structural transformations and their plastic deformation. We highlight features of the underlying strain-avalanching, and present a related crystallographically-informed modeling, with the ensuing strain-intermittency results, in different mechanical or thermal loading scenarios.
