Dear Prof. Levy,
Greetings from Annapolis!
I am the associate chair of the math department over at the Naval Academy. We are finding ourselves very short-handed for the Spring semester and are searching for new adjuncts.
I am reaching out to you now in case you or your colleagues have graduate students (with a Master's degree) who might be interested in picking up some extra support by teaching a section or two of calculus over here.
If you happen to know of any good candidates, I would be grateful if you would either send their contact information my way or forward this message on to them. I have included some basic details below. Of course, please feel free to forward this message on to your colleagues as you see fit.
Thanks,
Dan
Some details: Our adjuncts generally cover one or more sections of some level of calculus (using Stewart). In Spring, that would be Calc 2 or Calc 3. Those courses run 50 minutes per day, four days per week (not Tuesday or not Thursday) and are capped at ~20 students/section. Homework is handled via WebAssign, and we can supply notes and/or worksheets so you wouldn't be starting from scratch. Other courses (e.g., data science or differential equations) might be feasible, too, based on background and preferences. A Master's degree is required. The gross pay per semester is ~$1800 per credit hour, so ~$7200 per section of a 4-credit course like calculus or differential equations.
