Subject: Math Teaching Vacancy in Virginia STEM program: Master's Degree required
To:

Ahoy!  I'm Dr. Kevin Goff, lead teacher at the Chesapeake Bay Governor's School for Marine & Environmental Science, a regional STEM program for high ability high school students in rural Tidewater Virginia.  We currently have a mathematics vacancy at our Bowling Green campus, between Richmond and Fredericksburg.  Our program comprises a sequence of challenging, advanced courses that carry college credit through Rappahannock Community College, and for that reason the position requires a Master's degree in mathematics proper (not Math Ed); however, there may be pathways for folks who are en route to their Master's (ditto for those without teaching licensure).  Sophomores take Advanced Algebra ("Algebra III"), Juniors Trig/Pre-Calc, and Seniors Calc, with class sizes of ~20.  Classes are from 8:00-10:30 and then the rest of the workday till 3:00 is for planning and such.  Great kids!  You can learn about CBGS here and our course structure here, and the math position here.  The latter doesn't state Calculus as one of the anticipated courses, but in reality, that's usually been co-taught by the math instructor along with our outstanding Physics teacher, Dr. Vinh Hoang.

We'd be grateful if you would share this vacancy with any current grad students and/or recent alums who might be interested.  Attached is a flyer about the position that a colleague of mine whipped up in about 30 minutes using ChatGPT.  Much obliged!  - Kevin
