Title: Thermoeconomic Analysis of CCGT-CSP Power Plants fueled by Natural Gas and Hydrogen.

Abstract: The aim of this work is to carry out a thermoeconomic analysis of the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) of a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine with Concentrated Solar Power Plant (CCGT-CSP), designed and analyzed using the TRNSYS software. The thermal power station has a hybrid combustion, mixing hydrogen with natural gas in proportions of 20% and 40% of the total hydrogen volume, in two different cases. This study also aims to calculate the Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH), since the hydrogen is produced by an electrolysis unit fed with energy from the main power plant. The work has great importance, as the literature does not yet contain in-depth studies on these types of power plants, as most of the thermoeconomic studies concern conventional plants. In this sense, two methods were used to achieve the desired goals, the first being a separation of low, medium and high cases and the calculation of levelized costs for each of these cases, and the second being a Monte Carlo approach aimed at understanding the statistical influence of random costs, like future fuel costs. The results obtained were a LCOE that varied between 3.95 US cents/kWh and 7.23 US cents/kWh for 20% hydrogen, in the high and low cases, respectively, with an intermediate case of 5.35 US cents/kWh. For the 40% hydrogen case, the LCOE ranged from 3.87 US cents/kWh to 7.04 US cents/kWh in the high and low cases, respectively, with an intermediate case of 5.22 US cents/kWh. As for LCOH, for the 20% hydrogen case, a value of US$2.86/kg hydrogen and US$4.98/kg hydrogen was found for the low and high cases, respectively, and a value of US$3.79/kg hydrogen was found for the intermediate case. For 40% hydrogen, a value of US$2.82/kg hydrogen and US$4.87/kg hydrogen was obtained for the low and high cases, and a value of $3.71/kg hydrogen was obtained for the intermediate case. Concerning the Monte Carlo approach, it was possible to construct a distribution showing the statistical variation of the LCOE with the probability of the fuel price. From this it can be concluded that the LCOE is significantly reduced in the case of 40% hydrogen compared to 20% hydrogen. It reaches a reduction of 1.79% in the low case, 2.34% in the medium case and 2.72% in the high case, which are significant values for the electricity costs  .
