FUNDED MA & PhD PLACES AT CEU VIENNA
The Central European University in Vienna, accredited both in the United States and Europe, welcomes applications for its MA and PhD programs in philosophy, starting in September 2026.
Application deadlines for funded places:
October 15, 2025
February 4, 2026
Our MA
programs are one or two years in length.
We welcome PhD
applications in areas in which the department has research expertise.
Financial Aid: All Philosophy PhD places are fully funded with a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend for 48 months. MA students are awarded financial aid (tuition discount and stipend) on a competitive basis.
About the Philosophy Department at CEU: CEU’s Philosophy Department is internationally recognized as one of the top analytic philosophy programs in continental Europe. Its faculty has published in the best journals and presses in the world. The Department
was ranked #32 in the QS World University Subject ranking in 2024. But more than that, CEU’s philosophy department uniquely combines analytic, continental, and historical approaches.
About CEU: CEU is an English-language university in Vienna, with an exceptionally diverse international community, with students coming from over 100 countries, and faculty from some 40 countries, which makes for an unusually stimulating environment.
CEU is a largely post-graduate institution with a small undergraduate student body. Students receive a great deal of personal attention, and classes have a low student/professor ratio.
