The coastal engineering consulting firm of Olsen Associates, Inc. is seeking to fill a staff level engineering position. Qualifications should include:
- An advanced (masters, doctorate, or equivalent) degree in coastal and oceanographic engineering, preferably with undergraduate degree also in engineering;
- Proficiency in desktop computer skills, including MATLAB, Python, Fortran, or equivalent;
- Interest and experience in numerical modeling of coastal wave, hydrodynamic, sediment transport, and morphological processes using software such as Delft3D, SMS, ADCIRC, among others;
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English;
- Technical writing skills;
- Competent understanding of, and enthusiastic interest in, beach, inlet, and nearshore processes; and
- Proof of eligibility for employment in the United States (for non-U.S. citizen applicants).
The available position is suited for qualified candidates with 0-10 years’ professional experience and for those individuals who are a registered professional engineer or who are interested in pursuing professional registration. Salary will be based upon experience and abilities, with a standard benefits package.
Olsen Associates, Inc. is located in northeast Florida. The firm's work is principally focused in the southeastern United States and the Caribbean basin for both public and private clients. Specialized areas of expertise include beach restoration, inlet sediment management and sand bypassing, coastal structures, navigation projects, small craft harbors, oceanfront resort development, among others. Project work ranges from detailed studies of coastal littoral processes through preparation of design, plans, and specifications for inlet, beach and harbor improvement projects. The firm was established in 1982 and enjoys an international reputation of combining leading-edge academic theory, traditional engineering practice, and innovative project designs.
