Dear colleagues,

I have a postdoc position available in my research group in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington. The postdoc will support multiple federally funded projects focusing on coastal hazards and resilience. Topics include:
  • Assessment and mitigation of compound hydrologic hazards.
  • Effectiveness and resilience of nature-based solutions for coastal management.
  • Integrated modeling of shoreline adaptation decisions and estuarine hydrodynamics.
The postdoc will be expected to work independently to develop and apply statistical, data-driven, and process-based models to coastal systems; analyze and visualize model outputs; communicate with project partners and stakeholders; and disseminate research findings in peer-reviewed journals and at professional conferences.

Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in civil/environmental engineering or a related field. Desired qualifications include:
  • A strong theoretical background in environmental fluid mechanics and coastal processes.
  • Experience developing coastal hydrodynamic and morphological models.
  • Proficiency in coding and high-performance computing systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A demonstrated publication record.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
Interested candidates can apply at https://uta.peopleadmin.com/postings/34265. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled, with a desired start date of July 1. The initial appointment period is one year with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. More information about the department can be found on the UTA Civil Engineering website (http://www.uta.edu/ce/).

Thanks,
