Overview
IMSG is looking for a candidate to support NCEP/EMC for development of the wave component for future operational implementations of the global wave model as a part of the Unified Forecast System. The candidate’s work will involve the development of the global wave model WAVEWATCH III® within the Unified Forecast System (UFS) framework, supporting coupled global model development in relation to wave-coupling, testing and evaluating wave model performance both for standalone and coupled applications, and supporting integration of the wave model into end-to-end systems.
Responsibilities
The candidate will perform the job duties in an independent, collaborative and initiative way, applying innovative methods for the primary work areas. The candidate will work with others on wave forecast system improvements and for transition-to-operations, and will also work with external collaborators to develop and improve the wave modeling component for use within the Unified Forecast System (UFS) framework.
