Call for Nominations: Coastal Engineering Research Council (CERC) Regular Members (due May 12th)

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to solicit nominations, including self-nominations, to fill several upcoming Regular Member vacancies on the Coastal Engineering Research Council (CERC). The CERC is responsible for the continuity of the International Conference on Coastal Engineering (ICCE). Namely, the CERC solicits bids and selects future host sites of the ICCE, performs the ICCE abstract reviews, works with the local organizing committee (LOC) of each conference to ensure the ICCE meets its high technical standards, publishes the ICCE Proceedings, and selects the recipient of the International Coastal Engineer award.   

Expectations for CERC regular members are (1) to attend all committee meetings virtually approximately four times per year, (2) attend one in-person meeting held at the ICCE every two years, (3) review abstracts, (4) provide feedback to the LOC, (5) participate in host site selection, and (6) participate in the selection of the International Coastal Engineer award.  

Recently, CERC transformed its membership to broaden perspectives represented within CERC. This membership transformation expands and globalizes CERC membership. Regular Members serve a 6-year term (three ICCE cycles). The new Regular Members will be selected by CERC through an open process, with selection based on the following criteria (in priority order):

1 - Previous regular ICCE attendance and commitment to future ICCE attendance,

2 - National and/or international standing within the coastal engineering community,

3 - Demonstrated leadership/service within the coastal engineering community, and

4 - Broadens perspectives represented within CERC, for example through geographic representation.
