The Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR) is part of the Université
du Québec network, the largest university network in Canada, with over
100,000 students. Coastal erosion and flooding pose significant
challenges in Quebec, the largest province in Canada. In response,
UQAR and the Quebec Ministry of Transport have joined forces to
establish a research center in coastal engineering dedicated to the
design, construction, and maintenance of coastal infrastructure. This
is the only program of its kind initiated by the Government of Quebec.
Our research group collaborates closely with the Laboratory of
Dynamics and Integrated Management of the Coastal Zone, one of
Canada’s leading research laboratories in coastal science. We are
currently seeking motivated PhD candidates to join our dynamic team.
The research will focus on improving the understanding of coastal
hazards and developing innovative adaptation strategies to preserve
vulnerable coastal communities in Quebec. The successful candidate
will be offered a fully funded PhD scholarship.
