The Marine Modelling Group at University of Galway, Ireland, invites applications for a full-time, 3-year, postdoctoral position in future ocean energy forecasting.

Project description

The succesful candidate will play a central role in the development and application of a high-resolution wave modelling system (WAVEWATCH III) of Irish waters, the assessment of climate change impacts on future renewable energy availability and generation using wave and atmospheric model outputs, investigation of variability and complementarity of renewable energy resources and organisation of stakeholder engagement workshops.

Your profile

  • You must hold a Doctoral degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Coastal/Ocean Engineering, Physical Oceanography, or a related discipline, or have at least submitted your PhD thesis at the time of application.
  • You must have a solid background in wave modelling (e.g. SWAN, WW3) including model development and calibration/validation.
  • You must possess strong programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python, Fortran, C++)
  • A demonstrated research track record commensurate to stage of career, and excellent communication skills

Salary 

Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate salary scale €46,805 - €59,654 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations).
