Dear colleagues,

The Meng Research Group (https://olivmeng.github.io/) in the Department of Civil Engineering at Purdue University is seeking one or two PhD students to join in the Fall of 2026. Successful candidates would explore physics of the cryosphere in a warming climate, in particular, ice sheets and sea ice interactions with the ocean. Through the interdisciplinary lens of porous media flows, granular mechanics, and geoscience, the Meng Research Group aims to bridge pore/grain-scale physics with observations of Earth’s surface processes by integrating hydraulic flume experiments, computational modeling, and remote observations.

Please contact Yue (Olivia) Meng (men...@purdue.edu < https://engineering.purdue.edu/CCE/People/ptProfile?resource_id=312605>) directly if interested in learning more about these opportunities. The PhD application process and requirements can be found here. The deadline for PhD application is December 1, 2025.

Best Regards,
