Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year!

Please see below two reminders:

Reminder 1 – Conference session abstract deadline
We would like to remind colleagues that the call for abstracts for our EGU26 session on "nature-based coastal solutions: integrating geoscience, engineering, and societal perspectives on successes, failures, and future uncertainties" is currently open. Through this session, we aim to bring together interdisciplinary contributions that critically examine the long-term performance, risks, trade-offs, and uncertainties associated with nature-based coastal solutions across diverse environmental and governance contexts. We welcome case studies, modelling work, methodological innovations, systems-based approaches, and perspectives spanning geoscience, engineering, ecology, planning, and policy. The abstract submission deadline is 15 January 2026 at 13:00 CET. Full details are available here: https://www.egu26.eu/session/57482

Reminder 2 – Special Issue call for papers
We would also like to highlight our open call for papers for a special Issue on "coastal nature-based solutions: successes, failures, and future uncertainties" in the Journal of Environmental Management. Through this special Issue, we seek empirical, conceptual, methodological, and policy-focused contributions that address the long-term effectiveness, trade-offs, and system-wide implications of coastal NbS, including biophysical, socioeconomic, governance, and morphological dimensions across diverse coastal settings. The manuscript submission window will close on 31 August 2026. Further details and submission instructions are available here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/special-issue/324479/coastal-nature-based-solutions-successes-failures-and-future-uncertainties
