Research Positions: Sea-Level Change and Environmental DNA Research

Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, The University of Hong Kong

We seek a PhD student and Postdoctoral Research Associate to join cutting-edge research developing high-resolution records of late Holocene sea-level change from mangrove environments in the Caribbean and advancing environmental DNA (eDNA) proxies.

Project Focus:

  • Reconstruct sea-level variability using mangrove sediment archives
  • Develop foraminiferal eDNA techniques for paleoenvironmental reconstruction
  • Fieldwork in Caribbean and northeastern United States coastal environments
  • Analyze high-resolution records spanning the past 6,000 years

Essential Skills (applicants must have experience in at least one of the following):

  • Experience working in Caribbean mangrove environments
  • Molecular laboratory methods and eDNA techniques
  • Foraminiferal identification and analysis

Applications lacking demonstrated experience in at least one of these areas will not be considered.

Additional desirable qualifications include strong analytical and fieldwork capabilities.

Positions Available:

  • PhD Student: 4 year program
  • Postdoc: 1 year (renewable based on performance)
