Dear colleagues,
We are opening a PhD (predoc) position in the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Group at the Universidad de Sevilla (Seville, Spain). The position is linked to the project “Integral analysis of climate change impacts on transitional coastal systems considering their morphodynamic adaptation (CLIMADAP)”, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (2025–2028).
The project investigates climate-change impacts on key Spanish coastal environments, explicitly accounting for both hydrodynamic responses and long-term morphodynamic evolution. It develops an efficient methodology to simulate future coastal behaviour using process-based models, climate projections, remote sensing and machine learning. The study will focus on a compound flooding in Mediterranean river mouths, and changes in flooding, salinity, turbidity and intertidal dynamics at mesotidal estuaries and bays, with results transferable to similar coastal systems worldwide.
Candidates should hold a degree and MSc in Engineering or Physics, ideally with experience in numerical modelling and coastal hydro-morphodynamics. We offer:
Contract duration: 4 years
Starting date: February–April 2026
The deadline is 2 December 2025. Given the short timeframe, interested candidates are strongly encouraged to contact us as soon as possible so we can start the administrative process. We will be happy to provide further information and discuss the project and working environment.
Please feel free to forward or share.
Regards,
Alejandro.
