Post-Doctoral Researcher- HF Radar Coastal Ocean Processes
An exciting opportunity is available for a researcher to join the Fourth Industrial Revolution team at the Centre for Environment and Marine Studies (CEMS) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. We are seeking a candidate at the post-doctoral level with expertise in coastal dynamics, HF radar systems, and data processing.
Position Overview:
As a member of our team, you will focus on obtaining, processing, and analyzing data from HF radar systems to study coastal processes in the Arabian Gulf. The selected candidate will work closely with our team of researchers to investigate the physical mechanisms that connect the Arabian Gulf to coastal regions and influence coastal dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain HF radar systems for coastal monitoring and data collection.
- Process and analyze HF radar data to derive insights into coastal processes.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and data visualization tools to present HF radar data and analysis results.
- Conduct research on coastal hazards, hydro- and morpho-dynamic processes, and the environmental impact of coastal infrastructure development.
- Collaborate on projects aimed at reducing environmental risks from offshore constructions, dredging, and other coastal activities.
- Synthesize research findings into reports and peer-reviewed publications.
- Contribute to the development of coastal management strategies and adaptation plans.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in a related field (Physical Oceanography, Coastal Engineering, Marine Science, or similar).
- Experience with HF radar systems and data processing.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools.
- Strong understanding of coastal hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
- Proficiency in Matlab, Python, Linux, Git, and other relevant software.
- Experience in coastal field data collection and machine learning applications.
What We Offer:
- An opportunity to work with a leading research team in coastal ocean processes.
- Flexibility to work on diverse projects with significant research impact.
- Support for innovative research that informs coastal management and adaptation decisions.
