Dear listers:
Two open positions (one PhD and one Postdoc) are available at the
Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC) in Barcelona, working with
Gonzalo Simarro and Giovanni Coco on next-generation AI–physics hybrid
models for coastal systems.
The research focuses on two main challenges:
Shoreline change prediction using hybrid AI–physics models, including
Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs).
Forecasting underwater morphological evolution using deep learning,
training CNNs and related models on high-frequency bathymetric
datasets (including video-derived products) to support coastal
management applications.
We welcome applications from motivated, interdisciplinary researchers
with backgrounds in coastal or ocean engineering, earth or
environmental sciences, applied mathematics, or computer science /
machine learning with an interest in physical systems. Experience with
Python is expected (or a strong willingness to learn).
ICM-CSIC is a leading European marine research institute located on
the Mediterranean waterfront, offering an excellent research
environment and strong international connections, combined with
Barcelona’s unique quality of life.
For informal inquiries, feel free to get in touch.
To apply, please send a CV and cover letter (including contact details
for two referees) to:
