Alaska has 6,640 miles of coastline—more than all of the coastlines in the lower 48 combined. Of course, much of that coastline is uninhabited. But for those living along the coast, geologic hazards are significant. Please circulate this recruitment to interested geologists:
The Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) is recruiting for Geologist 3 , Geologist 2, and Geologist 1 positions to work with the Coastal Hazards Program.
All three recruitments within the Geologic Hazards Section are open to all applicants and close on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. If interested, please check each recruitment for qualification and location details. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit multiple applications if qualified for more than one of these geologist positions.
For more information and to apply, please visit Workplace Alaska.
The team selected for these positions will help with the development of interdisciplinary and interagency collaborative coastal research projects and participate in field investigations in remote Alaska Native communities. We encourage you to apply if you are interested in helping address the needs of environmentally threatened coastal communities and in building our understanding of how the coastline has evolved and how it will respond to hazardous events and long-term changes.
The benefits of working at DGGS include an inclusive and collegial working environment with dedicated colleagues who are passionate about advancing scientific knowledge that benefits the people of Alaska.
