The Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science is the UK’s leading and most diverse centre for applied marine and freshwater science. We currently rank in the top 5% of over 2,500 international institutes publishing in the same fields. We advise government and private sector customers in the UK and abroad on the environmental impact of their policies, programmes and activities through our scientific evidence and impartial expert advice.
The successful applicant for this post will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of coastal geomorphologists, hydrodynamic modellers, marine ecologists and water quality scientists who develop and present robust scientific evidence on environmental effects to regulators and to developers in our Energy Portfolio.
As a senior scientist, you will contribute to, and lead, project teams that gathering and interpreting baseline coastal processes data, making recommendations for environmental and engineering solutions (i.e., embedded mitigation) and interpreting the predicted impacts of coastal developments (in particular nationally significant infrastructure projects). Leadership, a strong grounding in a coastal processes discipline, and excellent communication skills are needed for your work with colleagues from different disciplines, customers and marine regulators. You will produce and review technical/scientific reports and Environmental Impact Assessments.
