Dear coastal_listers,

My group has a couple exciting PhD opportunities/vacancies at Leichtweiß-Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources of Technical University Braunschweig, Braunschweig, Germany.

Position TUBS-#1: “Outer surfaces of coastal defense works: Stability, damage processes and design improvements at contact patches and interfaces”

3-year PhD opportunity, 100% remuneration group E13 TV-L
Requirements: Masters coastal/ocean engineering or related field, at least basic level of German language
Field work, Experimental work in mid-/large scale wave flumes (i.e. Large Wave Flume, GWK, Hannover)
Collaboration with RWTH Aachen, Germany

Position TUBS-#2: “Chemical emissions from offshore wind farms: assessing impacts, gaps and opportunities (Anemoi)”

4-year PhD opportunity, 100% remuneration group E13 TV-L
Requirements: Masters coastal/ocean engineering or related field
Experimental (wave-current flume) and numerical work
Part of collaborative project by Interreg North Sea program, international team of collaborators

Position TUBS-#3: “Influence of biogeomorphological roughness elements (Oyster reefs/mussel beds) on waves and currents, using climate scenarios”

6-month internship/replacement position, 100% remuneration group E13 TV-L
Requirements: Masters coastal/ocean engineering or related field, experience modelling with Delft-3D is a plus
Numerical modelling of oyster reefs and mussel beds in German Wadden Sea
Within a collaborative project across many Northern German marine science institutions
