Dear colleagues, the OSM 2026 meeting will be held on 22-27 February 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. Submissions are now open and we invite you to submit an abstract to our session. We welcome a broad range of subjects regarding nature-based approaches. Thank you.

Abstract Submission Deadline: 20 August 2025, 23:59 EDT/03:59 UTC

Session ID: 257275
Session Title: HC008: Nature-Based Approaches for Coastal Resilience
Topic Area: Human-Ocean Connections

Rising sea-levels are changing shorelines in natural and built environments worldwide. Nature-based approaches (NBA) for coastal resilience and adaptation are becoming more common, particularly along developed shorelines where urban infrastructure is threatened.  However, a better understanding of immediate and long-term impacts of NBA on these social-ecological systems is critical to making decisions and investing resources for the sustainability of these critical systems. While most permitting agencies in the US, and elsewhere, require pre-installation resource assessments of varying detail, post-installation monitoring is often inadequate, both temporally and spatially to fully understand the effects of these alterations. We welcome presentations describing examples, methods, and visions of nature based approaches along coasts worldwide. We expect abstracts from all disciplines, particularly interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary case studies.
