Warm Greetings from the IIT Madras Zanzibar (Tanzania) - The first overseas campus of IIT Madras. 

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) is an institute of national importance established through an Act of the Indian Parliament in 1959. IITM is ranked No. 1 in India by the Ministry of Education ranking.  IIT Madras Zanzibar is the off-shore campus of India's premier institution, and was inaugurated in 

, and is open to students of all nationalities. The diverse first batch of students at this international campus is performing very well and IITM Zanzibar is fast emerging as a beacon of academic excellence, research prowess, and innovation, serving the educational and research needs of the East African region.

The IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus currently accepts applications for its MTech Ocean Structures - 2 year Master of Technology programs for the AY 2024-25. The degree will be awarded by IIT Madras. 

The Master of Technology in Ocean Structures offered at IIT Madras Zanzibar will have a curriculum tailor made to the industry needs in the Maritime sector. The program covers the basics of marine & offshore hydrodynamics, structural design for oil and gas exploration offshore platforms, ports, harbours including port structures & breakwater. There is a heavy emphasis on hands-on lab work cum tutorials in design of the above and industry driven projects. The course will enable the students to acquire research aptitude along with the necessary skills to prepare them for careers in the oil & gas and maritime sectors.

Program Streams:
Stream 1: Offshore and Ship structures
Stream 2: Port, Harbour & Coastal structures
Note: Stream selection will be based on CGPA obtained by students at the end of the first semester
