Dear Coastal List Members,

I am pleased to open my numerical model to the public today. I (Jungwoo Lee) and Dr. Jun Lee have been developing a three-dimensional unstructured grid model for coastal and estuarine circulation, the General Ocean Model (GOM). Combining the finite volume and finite difference methods, GOM achieved both the exact conservation and computational efficiency. More fundamental details of the GOM can be found in the original development paper (Lee et al., 2020; https://doi.org/10.3390/w12102752) or on the model homepage, https://ufgom.org/.

Most importantly, this model is focused on the easiness of use, thus users can easily understand the model structure and use the model. I am pretty sure that a user can run this model in a couple of hours and, mastering only requires a couple of days. I uploaded the model executables and some example projects to GitHub: https://github.com/jungwoo33/GOM_release; Note that source codes will be also released soon if I receive some requests. Please take a look and enjoy it. Any comments would be appreciated (jung...@gmail.com).

Thanks,

Jungwoo Lee
