Faculty Position, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Rutgers University-New Brunswick
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the School of Engineering,
Rutgers—New Brunswick, is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of
assistant professor in the area of Environmental Engineering. The hire is intended to augment
the expanded growth of the Department in the new Richard Weeks Hall of Engineering. The
anticipated start date of the employment is September 1, 2022.
The faculty search aligns with the strategic directions of the Department and recognition of the
need for building collaborative relationships between engineering disciplines and beyond. Of
special interest for this search are candidates demonstrating knowledge, creativity, and
innovation in one of the following, or related areas of Environmental Engineering: Urban
Hydrology, Nature-Based Coastal Engineering, Indoor Air Quality and Treatment, and Carbon
Emissions Reduction. The new hire is intended to augment research capacity at the forefront of
Environmental Engineering.
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree and Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering
or a closely related STEM field. The successful candidate is expected to develop a well-funded
research program and build collaborative relationships with research programs within the School
of Engineering and other programs inside and outside the University. The successful candidate is
also expected to develop and teach new courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels within
the Department that incorporate the state of the art knowledge and innovation. Particularly, the
new hire is expected to contribute significantly to the collegial cross-school undergraduate
program in Environmental Engineering as well as the proposed Ph.D. graduate program in
Environmental Engineering. Finally, the CEE Department is committed to promoting and
