The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a postdoctoral position within the project "Intelligence-based Technological Innovations to Enhance Resilience in Aquaculture".

Project Context
This position focuses on physical-based modelling of hydrodynamics, turbulent mixing, and nutrient transport in coastal fish farms. The research forms part of a larger interdisciplinary programme integrating hydrodynamics, microbial technologies, and AI-driven lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities
Develop hydrodynamic models of fish cages under waves and currents
Simulate turbulence-driven mixing, oxygen distribution, and nutrient/waste transport
Conduct field measurements in coastal fish farms (e.g., ADCP, ADV, water quality sensors, cameras)
Analyse and integrate field data into predictive physical models
Collaborate with microbiology and AI teams within the programme

Requirements
PhD in Coastal, Ocean, Environmental, or Civil Engineering (or related field)
Strong background in CFD and turbulence modelling (RANS / LES or equivalent)
Experience in aquaculture systems, net-pen hydrodynamics, or environmental flow modelling preferred
Willingness to participate in offshore/field deployments
Strong publication record and ability to work independently

Appointment Details
Full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Initial appointment: 1-2 years (extendable subject to performance)
Targeted Start date: May 2026
Competitive salary
